Their return to the top-flight of premier league cricket came as they recorded 302 points from their campaign.
The man in charge at the Eddie Thompson Oval reflected on the 2025 season.
It has been a very successful season for us, building on the momentum from last year when we also performed well but narrowly missed out on promotion.
This time, we again played cohesively as a team, with all bases covered—our strength lying particularly in the all-round department.
We had several strong all-rounders who contributed consistently with the bat, ball, and in the field. Maintaining consistency in team selection proved crucial, as it helped everyone understand their roles clearly and support the overall team combination effectively.
So what were the key moments during the season that gave Slough the edge to win the division.
I believe the key moments of our season were the matches against stronger teams in long format , where we not only performed well but also secured consecutive wins against Falkland, Datchet and Wokingham. These victories gave us a significant boost in confidence, helping us maintain momentum in the remaining fixtures and, in the process, establish a strong lead at the top of the table.
And, additionally, what were the other highlights which may not be obvious outside the club but Syed valued.
I believe the team spirit and discipline throughout the season were truly commendable. Every individual showed full commitment to the team’s cause, prioritising collective success over personal achievements. Whenever opportunities arose to put the team’s interests first, everyone stepped up, which made my role as captain much easier—allowing me to focus on game planning and management rather than individual concerns.
We were also fortunate to have a strong bench in our second squad. Players who were given opportunities consistently stepped up, and that bodes well for the club’s future.
The Slough captain is looking forward to Division One cricket in 2026.
Slough CC has played Division One cricket for many years, and as a club, we understand what it takes to compete and perform at that level. There’s no doubt it’s a step up—every team is evenly matched, and there are no easy games. But that also presents a fantastic opportunity for players to shine, showcase their skills, and test themselves against the best in club cricket.
We’re genuinely excited to be back in Division One and firmly believe we have a team capable of competing at the highest level. We’re looking forward to the challenge.
Syed explained what’s next with Slough’s winter plans.
We’ll be taking a short break for a few weeks before starting our winter training towards the end of October. The focus will be on training together as a team and working on the skill sets required to meet next year’s challenges. Each individual will be given clear goals outlining what they need to achieve and improve during the winter months.
In closing, Syed added.
There were some outstanding individual performances for us this season. Sahaan John played a pivotal role in our title victory, consistently contributing when it mattered most. Equally impressive was our overseas player, Vishnu Solanki, who brought real quality to the side. Although we would have benefited from having him available for a few more matches, his impact in the games he did play was undeniable—he was a genuine match-winner. Humza Ishaq also had a good season and has matured as a cricketer and I am hoping he will have stronger performances next year.Yash Lakhani also put his hand up whenever the team needed him.
We would like to thank Nadeem for his time.
